Chief Instructor

I'm Adam and a 4th Degree Black Belt with over 20 years experience in Martial Arts. I believe in a student centered approach to teaching Martial Arts and try to help every student reach their goals and full potential. We currently have in excess of 200 students training on a regular basis each week throughout our classes. There is nothing better for me than seeing our students achieve things they never thought possible.I personally have competed at local, national and international levels within the sport.

I'm Claire and a 3rd Kyu Brown Belt with over 10 years of experience in Wado Ryu Karate. I train alongside my son who is the same grade as myself! With no prior knowledge of martial arts, I am proof that anyone at any age can progress and achieve goals they never thought possible.

Welfare Officer

I’m Katy and I’m the welfare officer for YSMS. I work in education and I’m a Safeguarding Lead in my role.
I started to learn kickboxing back in June 2017 and next year I will hopefully be going for my black belt. Both my daughters are learning karate, the youngest, still at primary school, is in the beginners group and my older daughter, at secondary school, is in the senior belt group.

Coaching Program

Students that attain a minimum belt level and show the aptitude for mentoring and coaching are invited to join our coaching program. Developing the required skills to pass on knowledge to the next generation of Martial Artists. At specific points in this journey, they have to complete tasks to achieve their award (bronze, silver, gold etc). This further develops confidence and understanding for the participant.

NAKMAS

Governing Body

.NAKMAS, with 40,000 members, is Britain's only independent National Governing Body for both traditional and modern martial arts. This is compensated for by the participation of 20% adults and 80% youngsters from diverse backgrounds who practise various martial arts.

NAKMAS encourages adults and children, both able-bodied and impaired, to participate in martial arts, with a special interest and expertise in individuals on the autistic spectrum. Autism has affected two key members of the NAKMAS National Management Committee.
